Superposed Growth

2026
Touch Designer / Media Pipe

Superposed Growth is a generative audiovisual work built in TouchDesigner. It explores how motion can accumulate into the illusion of spatial depth and volume, and how transient movement can gradually take on structural density. Through repetition, layering, and temporal persistence, flat movement begins to take on the qualities of depth, mass, and spatial formation.

Visual 1

The system operates through a real-time feedback loop: simple geometric forms move, fragment, and recombine across the screen. Each movement is partially retained as a trace, and those traces compound over time. What begins as flat motion gradually thickens into dense, layered formations, occupying a space between 2D and 3D, surface and structure.

These spatial formations emerged through live interaction: using MediaPipe hand tracking, the artist’s hand movements guided the geometric forms in real time, shaping the layered structures that compose the work. The digital canvas is not a static image, but an active field continuously rewritten through gesture, feedback, and accumulation.
